Which SB-003 class do I need — One Day or Two Day?

2 min read · Sep 26, 2026

Hunter Education is the deciding factor, and the sheriff makes the call. Here is how to know before you book.

The Two Day class (12 hours) is the standard eligibility course. The One Day class (4 hours) exists for applicants the county sheriff confirms qualify for the abbreviated course — in practice, people who hold a Hunter Education certificate and submit proof of it with their Eligibility Card application.

How to know

  1. Do you have a current Hunter Education certificate? If yes, include the card number and issue date in your FSS application.
  2. Your sheriff reviews the application and confirms whether you qualify for the One Day class.
  3. Book the class that matches. If you booked One Day and were not confirmed, the store team moves you to the Two Day class.

Lost your Hunter Ed card?

Call Colorado Parks & Wildlife at 303-297-1192 (option 3) or request a reissue at ilostmycard.com. We can start you in the Two Day class and move you to the One Day version — refunding the difference — if the card turns up before class.

Take the two-minute SB-003 journey and it will tell you which class you likely need.
